Libby Thornton - Head Coach

 

 

A keen swimmer for most of her life, Libby has been both a swimming teacher and coach for the past 20 years.

For 14 years she coached the Upper South East swimming team and was, more recently, Head Coach and secretary of the Bordertown Dolphins Amateur Swimming Club.

"I am very excited about my recent appointment and am looking forward to commencing training this week and meeting those swimmers and families I have not yet had the opportunity to meet," Libby said.

In 2017 Libby was awarded the Swimming SA Local Legend. The Local Legends initiative is designed to recognise the great work of volunteers within the swimming community and the commitment they make to their local club.

Libby started her work with the Dolphins Amateur Swimming Club nearly 20 years ago after her children joined the club and she decided to do the same.

 

Karin Reddecliffe

 

 

Karin has been involved in water sports and swimming in particular from an early age. Currently Head Coach for the Great Southern Swimming Club, where Karin coaches both Club and Masters swimmers. Karin started as Head Coach with the then Strathalbyn Swimming Club four years ago. Karin currently holds a Bronze Coaching License and is working on the final hours for her Silver Coaching License.

 

When Karin was in High School she swam on the school team and was asked to swim for her uni, but was going to be in graduate school the following year so was not eligible. Subsequent to that Karin swam for Lane Cove and North Sydney Masters in NSW. When Karin moved to the Seattle area in the US, She began teaching swimming at the pool where her children were taking lessons which morphed into Karin coaching their swimming team for eight years. During this time Karin was asked to be the assistant coach for Lynwood High School Girls Swimming Team and then Head Coach for the Mountlake Terrace High School Girls Swimming team.

 

Currently Karin also teaches swimming at Sue Pryor Swimming in Strathalbyn, teaches swimming for the YMCA and teaches Swimming Teacher courses for the Australian Coaches and Teachers Association (ASCTA).
